Yemen Representative to the United Nations Security Council Khalid al-Yamani has called members of the UN Security to shoulder their responsibility and put pressures on the Houthi-Saleh militias to implement the UNSC's resolutions.
Al-Yamani said that the Yemeni government is keen to alleviate suffering of the Yemeni people, voicing readiness to reopen Sana'a Airport if the Houthi-Saleh militias agreed to allow its real staff to operate it under the supervision of the United Nations.
He further said that addressing the Yemeni crisis by focusing on the humanitarian aspect without giving the political side the importance it deserves and working to find a sustainable political solution to the crisis will only prolong the war and suffering of the Yemenis.
He said that the seriousness of the UN Security Council in dealing with the humanitarian situation in Yemen is at stake because it must contribute to resolving the root causes of the crisis and conflict, not just to address its symptoms.
